Tonight's Twee As Punk searched through three of the greatest twee-ish and post-punk albums to be found. Beat Happening (seen below) started the playlist with tastes of their album You Turn Me On.
I'm sorry to have neglected this dear Twee As Punk real estate for so so long. Here is a quick recapitulation of what has happened with my twee-pop, post-punk Friday show since the new year began:
Friday, Jan 7
"Deep...Picasso" started with Secret Shine
Friday, Jan 14
"Help...House" started with The Apartments
Friday, Jan 21
"Lazy...Spies" started with Marine Girls
Friday, Jan 28
"Jail...Club" started with Dum Dum Girls
The quarter is over, so Twee As Punk is over until the next quarter begins in January of 2011. Tonight's playlist, consisting of three stellar EPs, started with Lorelei (seen below) and can be found in full here.

Only one more installment of Twee As Punk is in store before the quarter is over. This week's show was dedicated to three bands, and Black Tambourine (seen below) began the hour. Here is the playlist.
The night started with The Feelies (seen below) and moved on to new-wave screechy trumpets, c86 standbys, and poetry over minimal DIY beats. The playlist is here.

Twee As Punk's latest is called "Teenage...Praises,"and it includes my favorite songs from the Vaselines (seen below), Television Personalities, and Delta 5, which I played this evening. Wander over to Paper Finn for the full playlist.

Oh the whimsy of this playlist title. After a week of modern fare, I returned Twee As Punk to its usual variety, with a few twenty-first century songs mixed in with the twentieth century love. Teenage Fanclub (seen below) started the show, blurring the lines of that differentiation. The night's playlist can be easily viewed and sometimes listened to on Paper Finn.

Tonight's show tended to twee and post-punk of the present: young bands who keep the jangle alive. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (seen below) started the show. And the rest followed, as chronicled on Paper Finn.

The third show has finished, and the third playlist has been preserved on Paper Finn. Heavenly starts the set (seen below).

I neglected to mention that the newest Twee As Punk playlist is now posted on a blog of mine. It starts with Velocity Girl (seen below).

The playlist of tonight's Twee As Punk premiere episode is posted on my blog, Paper Finn. The night started with Beat Happening (seen below).

I did love my dear little Indie ABCs. But I sought change, so now I introduce my new specialty show, Twee As Punk, to take the place of my original program. Same time, same place: Fridays at 8pm here at ACRN.com, beginning September 17.
I will miss being a DJ over the summer even though I will continue to be surrounded by music. I did not manage to cover all the letters of the indie alphabet this year, but maybe I will complete my task when the new school year begins. We will see. For now here is "Part...Guessing":
