While both songs may share the band’s same characteristic buzzing guitars and breathy vocals, their content could not be more different. On the topic of the first track, “Lucy’s”, Girlpool’s Cleo Tucker said that the song is about “stubborn feelings from a past relationship,” yet it is tinged with hope as they reflect on the ways in which they were determined to be alright even when their past partner was emotionally absent.

Of the other song, “Where You Sink”, the other member of the duo, Harmony Tividad, said that it explores the “natural human desire to be made special” and the complications that arose when she fell for someone who was beautiful yet toxic.

Check out the two tracks below.

The release of the two songs comes just ahead of a show in Brooklyn on October 23, which is the night before the band’s tour with Porches on Oct. 24 in Greenfield, MA. The full list of tour dates is below, and more information and tickets can be found here.
