As part of this year’s Visiting Artist Series, the Ohio University Scripps College of Communication will bring NPR’s Bob Boilen back to campus for an interview at Glidden Hall on April 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Members from Tank and the Bangas will join Boilen for the event in Glidden.
Additionally, after the interview, Boilen will lead a discussion about music journalism with Ohio University students. Following that, Boilen will join Tank and the Bangas for a music showcase at Stuart’s Opera House later that day at 8 p.m.
According to the Media School, Josh Antonuccio, a professor in the School of Media Arts & Studies, will moderate the interview.
“Bob continues to serve as the nation’s foremost music curator,” Antonuccio tells the Media School. “Tiny Desk Concerts has become an industry staple for authentic performances from the biggest artists of our time to new and emerging songwriters. Bob is beloved for his continued passion for discovery and musical exploration. We are thrilled to welcome him back to Ohio University.”
If you are unable to make the event, the interview with Antonuccio will be live-streamed on the School of Media Arts & Studies website.
As for the showcase at Stuart’s, tickets are available here. However, a limited number of Ohio University students will be able to get into the showcase for free upon providing a valid student ID. If students wish to reserve tickets, they must email the Media School at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, a bus shuttle will be available for the performance at Stuart’s. Pickup and drop off will be in front of Schoonover. Students should be ready to board by 7 p.m.
Fittingly enough, Tank and the Bangas won the NPR’s 2017 Tiny Desk Concert Contest. Out of over 6,000 entries, the band won unanimously. Watch the Tank and the Bangas Tiny Desk Concert below.
Additionally, Tank and the Bangas played the 2018 Nelsonville Music Festival.
