What’s Going On – April

Even though the school year is winding down, that doesn’t mean the music is going to leave with it. Here’s a look at all of the events going on this month.

Who: Yuckmouf, Wormtooth, Taung Child
When: April 1
Where: The Babecave

The Babecave will feature Philadelphia bands Yuckmouf and Wormtooth on April 1, along with Athens act Taung Child. More information can be found here.

Who: MOIRA, Brother Hill, Sweat Workers
When: April 4
Where: The Union, 18 W Union St
Admission: $5

Any fans of dream-pop or neo-folk should head down to The Union on April 4 to hear MOIRA, Brother Hill and Sweat Workers do their thing. More information here.

Who: Angela Perley, Ben Davis Jr. and The Revelry
When: April 5

Admission: $7

Columbus native Angela Perley is bringing her psychedelica-tinged sound to The Union on April 5, accompanied by Ben Davis Jr. and The Revelry. Find more information here.

Who: Harbor Lights, Sweat Workers
When: April 9
Where: The New Happiness
Admission: Suggested donation $5

Boston group Harbor Lights will share a venue with Athen’s very own Sweat Workers at The New Happiness on April 9. Find out more here.

Who: Tank and the Bangas
When: April 12
Where: Stuart’s Opera House

Tank and the Bangas are bringing their New Orleans style to Athens in an event hosted by Bob Boilen, who created NPR’s All Songs Considered. More information here.

Who: FruitLoOops, eLECTRIC gUITAR, No Stars, Marker1
When: April 12
Where: The Palace

The Palace will host a night of music played by Ohio bands FruitLoOops, eLECTRIC GUITAR, and Marker1. More information can be found here.

Who: Little Lawnmowers, Thayer Naples
When: April 18
Where: Casa Nueva, 6 W State St

Little Lawnmower and Thayer Naples bring their acoustic styles to Casa Nueva. Find out more here.

Who: Brick City Records’ Annual Artist Showcase
When: April 18
Where: The Union, 18 W Union St

Ohio University’s student-run record label, Brick City Records, will host its annual artist showcase on April 18, featuring Mungbean, The Emperor Chaz, JReneé and $eptember. Find more information here.

Who: Double Cheeseburger Fest
When: April 20
Where: Henhouse

Double Cheeseburger Fest will return for its second year of rock and roll and cheeseburgers on April 20 and will play host to 17 different bands. Find more information here.

Who: Black Belt Eagle Scout
When: April 22
Where: The Union, 18 W Union St

WLCI Hocking College Radio and Blackout Booking present a free concert by Black Belt Eagle Scout. You can find more information here.

Who: Cover 2 Cover For Athens Rock Camp for Girls
When: April 26
Where: The New Happiness
Admission: Suggested donation $5

Head down to The New Happiness to hear some great groups getting together for an even better cause. Anyone can perform, as long as they’re able to play a cover. All donations go to Athens Rock Camp for Girls. Find out more here.

When: April 27
