Throughout the Rise Above Tour, A Day Without Love singer Brian Walker will interview subjects about their balance of life and creativity on his podcast, “Dreams Not Memes,” with a goal of motivating others to exceed barriers facing independent artists.
In addition to the tour and podcast, Walker and A Day Without Love will release a music video on October 7 for “Good Friends Are Hard to Find,” a currently unreleased track about traveling and meeting people as a solo musician on tour. The Rise Above Tour will be A Day Without Love’s 16th tour in the last four years, and the musician has played in over 90 different cities across the United States.
The music video will also serve as a preview for the Safe and Sound Documentary, a collaborative effort between A Day Without Love and BS Productions that details American DIY culture and the space it creates for conversations about consent, progressive thought, activism and marginalized bodies. “Good Friends Are Hard to Find” will be part of a collection of songs featured in the documentary, and the Safe and Sound Documentary will be released in 2020.
The Rise Above Tour will end in Lexington, Kentucky, at To The Front Festival. To The Front Festival aims to feature underrepresented musicians and bands, and the event also raises money for Arbor Youth Services, a nonprofit that provides services for safe alternatives to at-risk youth.
