The solo segment of the tour will start with a special show, “An Evening with Kristin Hersh,” on October 21 in Tucson, Arizona, and will continue with three United Kingdom shows. Hersh will then return to North America to perform with the Pixies in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston and Toronto.
Hersh’s upcoming tour follows a recently finished West Coast and Midwest tour with former Throwing Muses bassist Fred Abong and 50FOOTWAVE drummer Rob Ahlers.
Hersh is best known for her roles as lead vocalist and guitarist of Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE. Throwing Muses found success in the early ’80s, playing with other bands like the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. Earlier this year, Throwing Muses performed at the Pasadena Daydream Festival.
After two decades performing with Throwing Muses and launching a solo career centered around playing the acoustic guitar, however, Hersh formed 50FOOTWAVE as a return to a more aggressive, electric-guitar sound.
Hersh is now touring to support her solo music, including both her 2018 release Possible Dust Clouds and a remastered version of her Crooked LP, which was released last month. These two albums are the latest products of Hersh’s successful solo career, which now includes 10 studio albums and several collaborations with other musical artists, such as R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe.
