Yorke has experimented with solo work since 2006 with the release of his debut solo album, The Eraser. Since this release, Yorke has completed many projects with Radiohead and as a solo artist, including multiple albums and tours.
In 2014, Thom Yorke released the album Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, followed by a tour in 2015, on which Yorke was accompanied by Nigel Godrich and Tarik Barri. In 2017, the album was reissued, leading to the first part of the Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes tour. Yorke’s most recent announcement extends that tour into 2020.
Although the Modern Boxes project continues to make an appearance, Yorke’s solo work continued to grow with his latest release, ANIMA, which came out in June 2019. Yorke later spoke to Crack Magazine about the album, delving into personal issues and his creative process as an entirety.
“I seemed to spend a lot of time in my basement, in the studio for two years,” Yorke explained when asked in the interview about recent creativity. “And suddenly everything that was kicking around in there is starting to come out.”
