The song was originally written by Mark McAdam and recorded by Van Etten, and it features soothing, almost lullaby-like vocals paired with dreamy harp undertones.

“I was moved by the track I was sent because it was lighter than I had expected for a topic so seemingly heavy, but in watching the film, I was inspired by how positive the stories were,” Van Etten said to Pitchfork. “Infertility and surrogates are so rarely talked about and I felt it important to be a part of the story. I hope I added some gentleness and understanding in my delivery.”

Made in Boise, directed by Beth Aala, follows the story of four surrogates in Boise, Idaho, highlighting not only the perspective of the participants but also the misconceptions surrounding the surrogacy process. Made in Boise will air on PBS on Monday, October 28 at 10 p.m.

Van Etten also recently released a personal mini-documentary from Amazon Music, titled Departure, on September 16. The documentary revolves around Van Etten’s experience as a young musician in New York City and her final days living in the city.
