What’s Going On: November 2019

Who: The Rocky Horror Picture Show
When: November 1 and 2, 10 p.m.
Where: The Union

Every year, Lost Flamingo Theatre Company does a shadow cast performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is a popular event that has people waiting in line hours before the show even starts, so be sure to get there early. Tickets cost $5, with an additional $2 charge if under 21, and can only be purchased at the door.

Who: Any Colour: A Pink Floyd tribute band
When: November 2, 11 p.m.
Where: Memorial Auditorium 

Any Colour, a local Pink Floyd tribute band, will perform Pink Floyd’s The Wall for a special Dad’s Weekend performance. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the door. Find more information here

Who: Trivia Night
When: November 5, 9 p.m.
Where: Casa Nueva

Casa Nueva will host a trivia night, so come out and bring some friends to have a great night full of fun trivia of all categories.

Who: Rock Fight Live Show Battle of the Bands
When: November 7, 9 p.m.
Where: Casa Nueva

Join Casa Nueva for a Battle of the Bands. There is a cover charge. Find more information here.

Who: Fiesta Latina
When: November 8, 9 p.m.
Where: The Union

Hosted by the Latino Student Union, Fiesta Latina is a fun chance to hear Latin music and raise money to build homes in Southern Ecuador to help fight against Chagas Disease. There is a $3 cover for those 21+, and $5 for people under 21. 

Who: Blackout & WCLI present Demolition Doll Rods, DANA, The Molice
When: November 9, 9 p.m.
Where: The Union

Demolition Doll Rods is a female rock trio from Detroit, Michigan, who will perform with Ohio band DANA and U.S.-based Tokyo group The Molice, plus more to come. All three bands have a punk-rock style with alternative influences.

Who: Garbage Greek, Slackluster, Sneakthief
When: November 14, 9 p.m.
Where: The Union

Come out to The Union to hear three amazing Ohio bands, including Garbage Greek from Columbus and two of Athens’ very own: Slackluster and Sneakthief. Supporting local musicians is rad!

Who: Wreckless Eric
When: November 16, 8 p.m.
Where: The Union

Eric Goulden, AKA Wreckless Eric, will perform an array of music from his career. As an established musician, Eric has dabbled in many different genres and instruments and will showcase his talents on November 16 at The Union. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online

Who: Trust Yourself Karaoke
When: November 21, 9 p.m.
Where: Casa Nueva

Hosted by DJ B-Funk, this is a free event to come out and enjoy singing some karaoke at Casa. 

Who: The D-Rays, Venus Flytraps, Water Witches, Slut Castle
When: November 23, 9 p.m.
Where: The Union

The D-Rays (self-described Appalachian Surf Rock), Slut Castle and Water Witches (self-described Freak Folk and Psych Rock), all from Athens, will play with The Venus Flytraps at The Union. Come out for a lively show guaranteed to rock your socks off.  

Who: DJ Barticus Y2K Milliunim Dance Party
When: November 30, 9 p.m.
Where: The Union 

Party at The Union like it’s 1999 (or 2005), where jumpsuit-wearing local celebrity DJ Barticus will host his ever-popular Y2K dance night, where you can come dance to all of the best hits you grew up listening to. $3 for those who are 21+, plus an additional $2 for those who are not.
