Joan Shelley has been a rising star in the folk music scene since her first album, Electric Ursa, was released in 2014. Since then, she has performed with Doug Paisley, Bonnie “Prince” Billy and many others while touring Europe and the United States. She has also opened for the likes of Wilco, Andrew Bird and Richard Thompson

Shelley released her latest album, Like The River Loves The Sea, in August 2019.

Joan Shelley lives in Louisville, Kentucky, close to where she grew up. She draws inspiration from her Kentucky roots when she creates music that reflects herself and her surroundings: landscapes, the changing of the seasons, the human heart. Described as “pure,” her music is reminiscent of Dolly Parton and Roger Miller, among others.
