The event is general admission and will provide seats on stage with the artist for an intimate concert of country-folk style music. Jake Xerxes Fussell, a Georgian folk singer and songwriter, will open the show at 8 p.m.
Joan Shelley has been a rising star in the folk music scene since her first album, Electric Ursa, was released in 2014. Since then, she has performed with Doug Paisley, Bonnie “Prince” Billy and many others while touring Europe and the United States. She has also opened for the likes of Wilco, Andrew Bird and Richard Thompson.
Shelley released her latest album, Like The River Loves The Sea, in August 2019.
Joan Shelley lives in Louisville, Kentucky, close to where she grew up. She draws inspiration from her Kentucky roots when she creates music that reflects herself and her surroundings: landscapes, the changing of the seasons, the human heart. Described as “pure,” her music is reminiscent of Dolly Parton and Roger Miller, among others.
Joan Shelley will perform at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio, on Thursday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $22.50 in advance or $27.50 at the door, and tickets for the event are on sale now at 740-753-1924 or stuartsoperahouse.org.
