“This is Not a Disco Pt. 2” is the first release off of Trying’s second full-length album, This is Not a Disco, which consists of 15 tracks and releases on July 10.

The Columbus, Ohio-based Trying released their first album Leave and Never Come Back in 2018, which was followed and preceded by EPs and singles. In 2019, the band released EPs I Won’t Let You Lose the Rhythm and I Just Can’t Feel the Rhythm.

“[This Is Not a Disco] will merge the two preceding EPs, which focused on first the experience of support and then the experience of struggle, in a new context with additional material blurring the separation between the light and dark,” said the band in a press release.

Formed by lead singer Cameron Carr, Trying home-records their music in both Carr’s bedroom and basement. The band is composed of Carr, Brady Costigan on guitar and bass, Zayn Dweik on drums and Laura Lenhart on the clarinet and glockenspiel.

All digital profits from Z Tapes’ Spring 2020 benefit compilation will go to a Slovak organization aiding in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. Listen to the song and the compilation below, and check out the single on other streaming platforms on April 28.
