Along with the announcement, the band released a new single from the upcoming EP. The track, titled “The Princess and the Clock”, is an experimental pop song and comes accompanied by an animated music video illustrated by Dan W. Jacobs.
“’The Princess and the Clock’ was written before Covid emerged, through the long, lonely hours and escapist dreams its protagonist experiences will be relatable to many right now. It’s a song for anyone who has ever felt trapped, lost, and alone,” the band said about their latest single in a press release.
The three tracks featured on the EP feature both English and Japanese lyrics, all written by frontwoman Sarah Perry. The songs also showcase vintage stylings, as the songs were recorded using analogue technology.
The band, made up of Perry, Jamie Bulled and Gus Lobban, released their last full-length album in 2018, the critically acclaimed Time ‘n’ Place.
