Produced by OG Parker and mixed and mastered by Mike Dean, “Flamin’ Hottie” dropped Friday as Megan Thee Stallion’s newest single. The singer took to Instagram to make fans aware of the single after a long hiatus. The track is an homage to Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” and was made to promote Frito-Lay’s Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Flamin’ Hot Doritos.
The song is wholehearted and spunky in nature, with several references to the snack foods throughout. The rapper says, “Just like Cheetos on your fingers, wanna suck me” and “Know I’m all that and a bag of flamin’ hot chips,” giving a purposeful shoutout to Frito-Lay, while also showing respect for the Cheetos mascot Chester Cheetah with “This cat talk back like Chester.”
The single will be accompanied by an upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, alongside singer and producer Charlie Puth. According to Billboard, the ad will have Stallion in the role as a hummingbird who raps “Push It”, while Puth beatboxes.
When asked about working with Megan Thee Stallion, Puth told The Rolling Stone that the collab is “the biggest thing ever” in his career, saying, “I was really excited about it because they just told me to be myself [and] that they were going to transform into a fox beatboxing.”
When asked by Billboard why she decided to work with Cheetos, the rapper said, “I am the Hot Girl Coach. I am Miss Flamin’ Hottie. I mean, I am all things hot. So I felt like it was very necessary for the Hot Cheeto and the Hot Girl to get together.”
The rapper said the song will only be available for two weeks, so fans will need to download or buy it, unlike her past works before. The song and commercial are expected to be one of the most highly anticipated on Feb. 11 when Super Bowl festivities begin.
