Ahead of his third studio album Harry’s House coming May 20, Harry Styles has dropped his lead single titled “As It Was.” The new track arrived with an accompanying music video directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muino.
The single is reminiscent of “Take On Me” by a-ha, but is more modern-sounding with its range of production and visuals.
The filming process of the video was taxing for both Styles and Muino. On the second day of shooting, Muino’s home country was invaded by Russia, causing emotions to be high on set.
“Directing a Harry Styles video was a bucket list dream come true for me as he’s my favorite performer,” Muino said. “Shooting him was bittersweet as it was one of the happiest days of my life, but on the second day of the shoot, my country Ukraine was invaded so you can imagine the insane emotions we had while shooting. Me and my team from Ukraine poured so much love into this video and you can see it on screen. It will be a music video I will never forget and now I can happily retire.”
Fans will be excited to hear more of Styles’ upcoming work after three years since he dropped Fine Line.
According to a press release, Harry’s House will have 13 tracks. Recording in the United Kingdom, Los Angeles and Tokyo between 2020 and 2021, Styles has kept busy between touring and creating new music.
