Singer songwriter Bella White announced that her sophomore album Among Other Things will release April 21 via Roadrunner Records. Along with the album announcement, she debuted the new single “Break My Heart”. In a press release, the artist said this breakup song is so emotionally loaded that she never intended to publicly release it.

Bella describes it as a snapshot of one moment in particular of her life, something that is in contrast to the rest of her career. “Break My Heart” joins “The Way I Oughta Know” and “Rhododendron” as three of the 10 tracks off her upcoming LP.

Bella is from Canada, making her stand out from the very American-centric genre of bluegrass. Her first LP, Just Like Leaving, is notable, not only for the success and critical acclaim it earned, but also how Bella wrote that album as a teenager. Now 22, and preparing for the release of Among Other Things, Bella has earned praise from American Songwriter who calls her “the youngest in her class of breakthrough virtuosos defined by the likes of Billy Strings and Amythyst Kiah.” NPR predicts she’s “poised for a major breakthrough”. Rolling Stone calls her “Sublime Appalachian heartbreak” and Grammy.com says she’s “a songwriting prodigy and emotional alchemist”.

After finding Bluegrass success, Bella wants to expand her sound on her forthcoming LP stating in a press release “Once I started stepping outside those margins, it really opened the doors for me. I felt completely free to explore and experiment, without being held back by any preconceived ideas of what my music is supposed to be.”
