The video was directed by filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun, and features actors E.R. Fightmaster and Jasmin Savory Brown. Shot at the Poconos Palace in Pennsylvania, scenes of light, a heart-shaped pool and colorfully lit shots bring the video to life. “Night Shift” is Dacus’ first video release since “Kissing Lessons” last year. It is the second music video release from Historian following “Addictions” in 2018.

Matador, Dacus’ record label, is releasing a fifth-anniversary red vinyl of Historian on May 26. The anniversary album is available for pre-order on her website here

In addition to solo projects and releases, Dacus’ has served as a member of collective group boygenius since its 2018 formation. Gracing the cover of Rolling Stone at the start of this year with a Nirvana cover recreation, the group also returns with new music and are set to release The Record on March 31. Discussing the cover in a behind the scenes video with Rolling Stone, Dacus shared, “I like how there’s sort of a raw element to everything that they made, and I feel like we definitely try to maintain a level of imperfection,” she said. “They also seem like — I don’t know this — but they seem like people who were confused by the hype about them. And like, we’re our own biggest fans, but also, I can relate to that.”
