Philadelphia hardcore punk trio Soul Glo recently dropped a new single titled “If I Speak (Shut the Fuck Up).” The song comes with two versions of an accompanying music video directed by Ava LaPrima. The track is produced by Soul Glo’s guitarist GG Guerra, and features additional engineering work from Evan Bernard.

In a press statement shared with Pitchfork, Soul Glo frontman Pierce Jordan said, “‘If I Speak’ is a song about channeling one’s voice and perspective through art or another creative expression.” He continued saying, “You can hear when people spend more time online than on their music. You can tell when people are more focused on a visual statement than a sound.”

This is the first official recording the band has put out since last year’s Diaspora Problems, the trio’s third studio album which received widespread acclaim from numerous outlets. Originally released on Epitaph Records, the album has since received several reissues and colored LP presses through Touché Amoré frontman Jeremy Bolm’s Secret Voice label.

Soul Glo is set to embark on a tour with Los Angeles metalcore act Zulu. Additionally, the band will be an opening act for select upcoming Baroness shows at venues such as Cleveland’s Agora Theater & Ballroom in late November, alongside groups such as Spotlights and Cloudrats.
