Los Angeles-based musician Kid Bloom, also known as Lennon Kloser, has dropped a new single called “Afterlife”. The song was co-produced by robopop, who has worked with artists such as Weezer, Lana Del Rey, and Maroon 5.
In a press release, Kloser talked in-depth about the track, saying, “This song is about rebirth and letting go. It’s actually a sad song but I wanted to brighten it up with the production. I’ve been chatting with my friends about life a lot lately. A current theme is this idea of ‘not getting it right’ the first time around. ‘Afterlife’ plays off the sentiment of learning your lessons in this life so you can get it right in the next.”

Music publication MXDWN premiered “Afterlife”, calling the track “a delightfully bouncy beat that pairs well with Kid Bloom’s sweet, melodious vocals.” Kloser also mentioned in the article how the new work came from wanting to bring more energy to his live performances, as well as visuals.
Expanding on his visual creativity, Kloser worked with director Eric Daniels on the accompanying music video, a previous collaborator he teamed up with for his single “Sparkle”. In the video, there are two Kid Blooms—one looks sad and lonely while playing guitar, while the other is a shadow of the singer dancing to “Afterlife”. The imagery is a nod to the lyric: “All this time you’re dancin’ with the shadows on the wall…”
With two albums and an EP already under their belt, Kid Bloom is set to release an album early next year, with the new single acting as a teaser of what’s to come.
