Peach Pit is back with a new single, “Did You Love Somebody.” This is the second single they have released that will be on their upcoming album Magpie, set to release October 25. This song differs from their first released single, as this is a more stripped down love song that tugs at your heartstrings. This song evokes nostalgia as it brings us back to their earlier tunes that you would hear off their first album, Being So Normal. It also sounds fairly similar to other acoustic songs they have released, such as Look Out off their last album, From 2 To 3. You can hear some classic, groovy indie guitar riffs in the breaks of the song from lead guitarist Chris Vanderkooy that pair oh so well with the sweet and soft vocals from lead singer Neil Smith.

Peach Pit’s lyrics never go unnoticed because of how different and interesting they tend to be, as well as the stories they tell. They always include songs about people, such as Chagu’s Sideturn or Vickie. That theme is still apparent in this track. This song dives into the fear and uncertainty of starting a new relationship, the lack of trust that lingers in the beginning of a relationship and realizing that feeling and thought is mutual. Peach Pit really knows how to hit home with the relatable lyrics and they have done it once again with this tune.
With both songs the band has released to tease their upcoming album, it is hard to decipher what kind of vibe Magpie will hold. With the energetic, 80s vibe the title track has, it is hard to know what to expect. But since it has felt like forever since Peach Pit has released some new music, we can only be excited and on the edge of our seats for the new album. These guys are so back!
