Queen drummer Roger Taylor hinted at making new music after a nearly 30 year hiatus. In an interview with Uncut, he talked about a potential new album release for the band, saying, “Brian [May] and myself were talking the other day, and we both said that if we feel we have some good material, why not? We can still play. We can still sing. So I don’t see why not.”

Queen formed in 1970 with members Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. Their last record Made In Heaven was posthumously released in 1995, after the death of frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991. The band has been on hiatus for nearly three decades, but still touring with surviving members Taylor and May. Adam Lambert joined the band in 2011 as a de facto lead singer. Lambert officially became a member after he performed with Queen in the MTV Europe Awards in Belfast.
Despite both Taylor and May being in their seventies, the two have continued to tour with Lambert. While Queen hasn’t made any new releases since their hiatus in 1995, Roger Taylor talked about releasing new music in 2019, but decided against it. In an interview with Hunger, Lambert said, “People always ask if we want to record together and I’m not sure it makes total sense because it wouldn’t really be Queen because to me Queen is Freddie.”
Roger Taylor currently seems more optimistic about the potential of new music after his new interview.
