Today, George Harrison’s estate released 50th anniversary editions of his album, Living In The Material World, released through Dark Horse Records.
The 50th anniversary edition features an unreleased recording of “Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond)” with Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko and Ringo Starr. The new recording is part of the record’s Super Deluxe edition, which features an instrumental version and an animated video. The video was designed by Daniel Cordero and also includes work by Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine.

When first released, Living In The Material World was a hit album. After five weeks, the LP held the top spot on the 1973 album charts. Likewise, the single “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)” reached the top single spot. In the 50th anniversary edition, “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) (Take 18)” will also feature a visualizer from Matthew Newton and Leah Marie Newton, featuring art from Ram Dass.
In a press release, Rolling Stone described the record as a “pop classic” that “stands alone as an article of faith, miraculous in its radiance.”
The album will be available for both physical and digital formats. There are limited edition Super Deluxe albums that feature early renditions, Blu-Ray tracks, and the “Sunshine Life For Me” recording.
For the 50th anniversary release, Living In The Material World has been entirely remastered from the original tapes. This was overseen by Paul Hicks, who aimed to make the sound more dynamic and rich than ever heard before.
