Liverpool’s The Wood debuts their Days album this Friday. The band, composed of Alex Evans and Steve Powell, are an indie-rock-meets-southern-soul band.
Besides the duo, the album features additional work from musicians Martin Smith, Simon James, and Jake Howden-Woodward. One half of the band, Steve Powell, has worked as a producer at Ark Recording Studios for a variety of bands and artists, including Michael Head and The Strands, John Power, The Stairs and Ella Guru.

Created in a basement studio, Days is an album born of tireless hard work for The Wood. Thematically, the album is soulful, full of themes of love, loss, and heartache. The Wood aims to create an indefinable genre from the influences of Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. The main goal for The Wood is to create music for the sake of creation and the goal to tell a new story.
The album features lead single “Let It Loose,” with a surreal music video from Dylan Cox. The second single, “Thornside Walk” is considered a song of hope that follows the rest of the album. The tracklist features a wide array of instrumentation, from a mariachi band to a gospel chorus. The singles and the album are set to release via Riverdream Records.
Stay tuned for The Wood’s debut album Days, available on all streaming platforms November 22.
