Folk rock hero Neil Young has dropped a single with his new band, the Chrome Hearts, ahead of their headlining slot at Glastonbury 2025. “big change” is out via Young’s Other Shoe imprint and Reprise, and was recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu, California.
It is unknown if the single is a teaser to a larger project yet, however Young is slated to release another “lost” full-length from the ‘70s this upcoming Valentine’s Day, with the album Oceanside Countryside.

The Chrome Hearts consist of guitarist Micah Nelson, drummer Anthony Logerfo, bassist Corey McCormick and organist Spooner Oldham. McCormick, Logerfo and Nelson all come from Promise of the Real, who have collaborated with Young before, most notably with the full-length LP, The Visitor, in 2017, as well as the Paradox soundtrack a year later.
Young and the Chrome Hearts are set to headline Glastonbury 2025 this June. However, the Canadian legend issued a bold public statement earlier this month, declining to play this year’s fest (and one of his “all time favorite outdoor gigs”) due to Glastonbury falling under “corporate control” from their ties to BBC among other companies.
Neil withdrew his claims a few days later on his website a few days later, writing: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing”.
