The Laughing Chimes are set to release their second album Whispers In the Speech Machine this Friday.
Throughout the past two years, The Laughing Chimes have become a household name in the Athens music scene. The band has released several singles alongside their 2021 debut In This Town and opened for Guided by Voices last year. Most recently, the band released “High Beams” and “Cats Go Car Watching” as the leading singles for their upcoming album.

On Nov. 13, The Laughing Chimes announced the release of their sophomore album on Instagram. In the post, the band shared that they have been working on Whispers In the Speech Machine for two years with the intent of making the album just right.
On their Instagram, the band also shared that the release of this album will mark a bit of a sound change. The Laughing Chimes is currently self-proclaimed “haunted jangle pop.” The new album is said to mark a shift to an American gothic look and sound.
