Dozens of artists from across the music industry have been brought together by the Good Music organization for a massive benefit album to raise money for victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The 90-song Good Music to Lift Los Angeles is presented in a press release as a “compilation made up entirely of previously unreleased recordings from some of the most inspiring names in music today.”
With contributions from artists such as Death Cab for Cutie, R.E.M., Faye Webster, MJ Lenderman, Tenacious D, Modest Mouse, Mac Demarco, Courtney Barnett and many more, the compilation features a wide range of material from industry veterans and rising stars alike, from indie to punk to pop and beyond.
100% of net proceeds from the album are set to be donated with funds going directly to impacted communities via the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the LA Regional Food Bank.
Good Music to Lift Los Angeles is available for only 24 hours starting at 12:00 a.m. PT on Feb. 7 and running until midnight. The album is available on the Good Music Bandcamp page starting at $20.25, however those wishing to make a larger donation have the option to pay more. Additionally, Bandcamp itself has pledged to donate 100% of its share of the album’s sales to MusiCares.
Indie rock band TV on the Radio have released their single from the album to stream for free, but the full album can be purchased from Good Music here.
