The band performed their 2024 album’s title track, “I Got Heaven,” with lead vocalist Marisa Dabice decked out in a truly rockstar-worthy getup accompanied by a choir of nuns who served as backup singers (look out for Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman and Jessica Lea Mayfield among the singing sisters).

Devoting a large chunk of monologue to the band, Mulaney said:

“You will hear music such that has never poured through your airwaves! That’s right. There are many milestones in human culture. There’s the invention of the printing press, the Armory Show of 1913, and tonight we bring you the television debut of Mannequin Pussy. It’s the best. It’s the best. Mannequin Pussy plays loud rock music, and their name is fun to say. Our studio has been flooded with telegrams all week because of these youngsters and the excitement has reached all corners of the globe. We even received this wire today. I was very excited: ‘Ahem, me and Michelle are watching along with the rest of the world. Long live Mannequin Pussy. Yours, Barack Obama.”

Whether or not the former president is truly a fan could honestly go up for debate, but one thing that is for sure is that Mannequin Pussy puts on a performance that demands to be seen.

The band’s tour in support of their acclaimed album I Got Heaven continues in 2025 with dates announced throughout the fall. Tickets can be purchased here
