Key Tracks: “Find Me There”
Cincinnati-based alternative rock band One Strange Dog makes their debut with the release of their new EP Seasons. Just like the title of the EP suggests, there natural imagery makes its way into almost every song. From flowers in the track “Heavyweight” to running through the woods barefoot in “Billie,” the EP gives the listener mental picture of stories told during warm weather, and what better time to release this than when spring is officially in bloom?
Overall, the vocals are very experimental but they work really well. Like other spots in this EP, there is plenty of growth to be had, but mostly the growth needs to be blending vocals into the rest of the song. “Billie” is a song where you really can start to hear different influences that the band may have had, for example during the chorus it’s nearly impossible not to relate it to Mitski.

“Find Me There” is the key track on Seasons. This track really emphasizes who the band really is and where their vision is going. The vocals are really interesting and pull the listener in, especially the background vocals scattered throughout, not to mention the massive amounts of nostalgia input. The timbre of the piano in the song sounds like that old piano that you’d play in your parents house and, at times, it even sounds similar to a tiny toy piano.
The EP, as a whole, lacks confidence at times. Sometimes it feels like everything tries to be very square and perfect when, in reality we know music just simply isn’t. Another point of growth is the mixing and recording of the tracks. There isn’t a great balance between each part, making it hard to tell what to focus on at the moment.
One Strange Dog is a band to keep your eye out on. Every track has something to leave the listener with. Get ready to be immersed into nature and groovy tunes.
