Texas native guitarist Hayden Pedigo announced the release of a new album titled I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away set to release June 9. The album announcement came with a new single, the opening song from the new album titled, “Long Pond Lily.” It’s a departure from his typical style, as Pedigo stated in a press release, “the low end is rattling on it — it sounds bonkers, and feels like it’s on the verge of going off the rails. It’s so maximalist, so much more energetic than anything I’ve ever written.”

A music video was also released alongside the single.
The Oklahoma-based artist is coming off of his 2023 record The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored, which was met with widespread critical acclaim which would result in an NPR Tiny Desk Concert for Pedigo.
I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away marks the conclusion of the “Motor Trilogy,” containing Pedigo’s latest two solo projects before concluding with his newest project. His new record draws from sounds of the American South, with Pedigro naming Amarillo, Texas as an inspiration for the zoomed-in landscape, while balancing it with his own genre-defying style.
A tour abroad is scheduled from August to September, following the album release.
