The single serves as the album’s opening track, setting the mood of the album with its huge chords, fat slow-jam beats and some wonderfully soulful harmonies from Garbus. Heartbreak here is seen as fuel, as a challenge — Tune-Yard invites listeners to “Watch me survive another heartbreak,” as stated in a press release. The track was accompanied by a dynamic, self-directed video, shot by DOP Sarah Jaffe.
The duo recently performed the single on CBS Saturday Morning and are set to make appearances during an upcoming U.K. and European headline tour. Tune-Yards will also perform at the Royal Festival Hall in London on November 22.
Offering their audiences a chance to experience Better Dreaming’s vitality and messages up close, Tune-Yards plan to bring the album to life in a plethora of intimate venues, such as The Stone Church in Vermont and Space 538 in Maine, before wrapping up with a celebratory night at New York’s Night Club 101.
Better Dreaming is out on May 16 on all digital platforms, CD, standard black vinyl and clear blue wave vinyl (indie retail only). For more information and to pre-order, head here.
