Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner of Tune-Yards are back with their newest offering, Tell the Future With Your Body — a companion release to their previous album, Better Dreaming. 

The latter release saw the duo at their grooviest, which they have since kicked into high gear with new irresistible rhythms, basslines, and melodies. The tracklisting offers three previously unheard songs from the Better Dreaming recording sessions as a bonus, including the dynamic new track, “Sand Into Stone.” The official video supplementing this track, produced by Jayla Smith, can be watched here.

In a press release, Garbus shares this on the new EP: 

“‘I breathed on the people and the people started losing their minds.’ These songs came rolling off of our fingers and tongues right after Better Dreaming. With them, we match the overconfidence of backwards tyrannical overlords with the confidence of mid-career artists in the zone. May we release our cultural fear and grief with a breath of fire!”

Fans and newcomers alike can experience the band’s fiery disposition thanks to a handful of upcoming shows. The duo is set to kick off their US shows at WXPN’s XpoNential Music Festival on September 20. Highlights include Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C., on September 22; the Exit/In in Nashville on September 26; and the Bowery Ballroom in NYC on October 9. The band’s captivating rhythms, beats, and Garbus’s powerhouse vocals are experiences not to be missed. Tickets can be purchased here.
