Sword Tongue received a Grammy nomination for their fourth EP, Bonfire in the Tempest. The album contains five tracks and rounds out to a 19-minute run-time. There are music videos for two of the tracks, “Diamonds to Dust” and “WE ARE THE RESISTANCE.”

Bonfire in the Tempest is eclectic, drawing from several genres and culminating in Sword Tongue’s unique sound. The album is self-released and self-produced.

“Originally, this album was meant to be more of a danceable opus with a trip-hop flavor. However, after the U.S. Presidential election, we realized that our album had to carry a more specific message on the current political climate, on aging and on transitions. We wanted to give voice to the frustration, the anguish, the strength and the hope in all of us,” said Jennifer Wilde in a press release.

Formed in 2020, Sword Tongue is an Oakland-based alt rock band composed of three members, Jennifer Ryan Wilde, Gaetano Maleki and Dan Milligan. Wilde does the lyrics and vocals, Maleki is guitar and bass and Milligan is drums and percussion.

Wilde is a classically trained vocalist and Milligan also serves as a producer for the band. Maleki also had a background in heavier music prior to his involvement in Sword Tongue.
