ACRN are joining forces with Women in the Music Industry (WIMI) to stir up the cauldron with a Halloween Bash on Thursday, Oct. 30 at The Union. Get your best costume ready, because when the doors open at 8 p.m., only the bravest gaggle of goblins and ghouls may survive the performances from Hourglass, Bugsley, Zappers and Wujeria…

Hourglass are an Athens-based indie rock group. Despite debuting earlier in February, the five-piece band have become a mainstay within the local music scene. Alongside playing tightly knit original tunes, the group have previously played soulful renditions of songs from Radiohead, Maroon 5 and Jeff Buckley among others.

Bugsley are a dream pop band based out of Cincinnati. The group have released a handful of loose singles, as well as a demo tape available exclusively on Bandcamp. Their latest single, “4th of July,” was written about “those summer nights when things felt right, and all I had to worry about was my summer fling,” the band stated in an Instagram post.

Zappers are an Athens-based progressive rock band. The five-piece have been active in the Athens scene since 2024, having played one of their first shows at ACRN’s annual Battle of The Bands showcase. Earlier this October, Zappers were featured on ACRN’s Radio Residency where they showcased their exciting, and often explosive, musical range.

Wujeria is a solo project based out of Dayton. Wujeria recently released their self-titled debut record: a 15-track exploration into melding atmospheric, gothic textures within cold electronic grooves. In an Instagram post, they described the album as “A place where I can spin endlessly and speak to the angel trees. 15 alien songs for your ears. Everything performed, written, recorded and produced by me in my bedroom.”

Be sure to come and celebrate Halloween with some good music! Doors will open at 8 p.m., at The Union. The cover charge is $8 for ages 21+, and $11 for ages 18+. Costumes are required! Be there, or be scared…
