Rising indie-folk group Loving announced on Wednesday, December 4 that their debut album, If I Am Only My Thoughts, is set to release on January 31, 2020, via Last Gang Records. In addition to the announcement, the band shared a cut from the upcoming record, “Lately in Another Time,” and an accompanying music video.

If I Am Only My Thoughts furthers the band’s affliction for posing contemplative, unanswerable questions. These musings are backed by straightforward folk performances and lo-fi, subtly psychedelic production.

Their most recent track, “Lately in Another Time,” is the fourth pre-album single released this year and serves as the centerpiece for If I Am Only My Thoughts. “Lately in Another Time” arrived with space-themed visuals in the form of a music video, which features a fittingly low-quality aesthetic, directed by Ft Langley.

“There isn’t a single narrative driving this album, but we do linger on some basic human problems: confusion in the face of a desire for self-knowledge and belonging, a struggle for meaning that is circular and sometimes seemingly endless,” explains band member Jesse Henderson.

Loving is comprised of David Parry and brothers Lucas and Jesse Henderson. In 2016, they independently released their first and self-titled EP, Loving. Loving quickly gained an online following for the band and, now backed by Last Gang Records, the band will expand their discography with their full-length debut. Pre-order the album here.
