“SLUT ME OUT 2” has a lot of people asking Memphis rapper NLE Choppa some questions. People took to X, formerly Twitter, to question the rapper’s sexuality (which he addressed quite tastefully!). In my review for the original “SLUT ME OUT”, I pointed out that the song has an unclear quality to the sexual roles Choppa is taking, making the song a universal anthem for all “sluts” regardless of gender, orientation, or role. I find that song’s “queer potential” a lot more potent than “SLUT ME OUT 2’s”, personally, for this reason. This song is merely a hype anthem.

And that leads to my personal question, which is a mere “why?”. “SLUT ME OUT” is quite seriously my favorite song of all time, because behind its incredibly raunchy lyrics, which are also delightful and exciting, it is a song about self-expression.

I suppose that’s what “SLUT ME OUT 2” does as well, but it does it in a much less creative manner. The song focuses on self-obsession (one could argue confidence, I would argue ego), rather than a thrilling and creative exploration of sexual exploits, with a humorous and arguably progressive nature. What made “SLUT ME OUT” unique, as well as appealing and subsequently a hit, is completely gone in the sequel.

It’s not just the lyrics that have lost the plot though, the beat is significantly a downgrade as well. Everything here feels uninspired and commercialized, completely lost in the success of the original and trying to ride its coat tails.
