Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poet’s Department has already undergone significant change almost immediately following its release, with the addition of 15 songs as a part of The Tortured Poet’s Department: The Anthology.

At 2 am, Taylor posted on Instagram: “I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you.” She closed the announcement saying, “the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.” The addition of 15 songs to the original 16 tracks of The Tortured Poet’s Department brought the project’s runtime to just over 2 hours, and made it Taylor’s first-ever double album.

This is not the first time, however, that Taylor has quickly added songs to her new releases. Her last studio album, 2022’s Midnights, had 7 extra songs added three hours after release for the aptly named Midnights (3 am Edition)

Taylor announced the Tortured Poet’s Department during her acceptance speech after winning “Best Pop Vocal Album” for Midnights at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February. Since that announcement, and the ending of the Asian and Australian legs of The Eras Tour, Taylor has remained relatively silent. This week, she returned to Instagram to post lyrics from the record. Additionally, Taylor set up a pop-up library in LA, in anticipation of the album’s release, according to Elite Daily.

Even after the release of the record, fans remain unsure how The Tortured Poets Department will factor into The Eras Tour. The tour begins its massive European run on May 9 in Paris, France with support from Paramore, according to Deadline. In the meantime, fans eagerly await her final two (Taylor’s Version)’s re-recordings of 2006’s Taylor Swift and 2017’s Reputation.
